UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. Un Women works with governments and civil society to design and implement laws, policies, programmes and services to enable women and girls to claim their rights and expand their opportunities. The work of UN Women in Moldova is guided by its Country Strategic Note 2023-2027, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for Moldova (2023-2027), UN Women Global Strategic Plan, National Programs and Strategies and aims to contribute to the gender-responsive implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

As Junior Associate Gender Equality, Women’s Empowerment you support UN Women as follows:

  • Facilitate collection, analysis and synthesis of sex-disaggregated data, specific research, policy papers, articles, case studies that can inform and shape programmes in promotion of gender equality, women empowerment, prevention and combating gender-based violence;
  • Assists to gather relevant information and developments related to the above mentioned areas;
  • Supports in identification of opportunities for capacity building of partners and facilitate technical/ programming support and trainings to partners;
  • Provides inputs and contributes to the extent possible to the design of outreach materials for use at events, campaigns, and social media;
  • Works with the team and direct supervisor to support the organization of meetings, campaign events, workshops, conferences, trainings, study tours and related activities relevant to the implementation of the programes in women empowerment and prevention/combating of gender-based violence.
  • Etc.

Part of the Talent programme “Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank“, this position is sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). An International UN Youth Volunteer contract ensures that travel, relocation and UN health insurance costs are covered. Additionally, a monthly living allowance is paid. Skills required

For the programme:

  • Swiss nationality;
  • Master’s degree;
  • Ideally 12 months of relevant professional experience (min. 3 months – max. 24 months);
  • Max. 28 years old at the date of application;
  • Excellent command of English and 2 official Swiss languages (one active = C1/C2, one passive = A2/B1);
  • Proven interest in joining the international cooperation sector.
  • Driving license for PHRD financed positions.

For this position:

  • Master’s degree in gender studies, international relations, law, human rights or other related areas;
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) in:
    – Promotion of gender equality and women empowerment;
    – Prevention and combating gender-based violence;
    – Promotion of the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities – optional;
  • Fluency in English is required.

Application deadline: 03 September 2024

First round of interviews carried out by cinfo: between 23 September and 02 October 2025

Final selection: will be made by the host organisation based on cinfo’s recommendation and a second interview with them. Selected candidates will be informed around November.

 

Onboarding and training: The onboarding process will start after the selection. Selected candidates will have to attend mandatory predeparture training in Biel in January or February.

Entry on duty: Departure is possible after the mandatory training. The final departure date will be discussed after the selection and depends on several factors.
