Trinomics is a leading consultancy firm dedicated to supporting the transition to a low-emissions, green and climate-resilient society. Our work includes applied economic research and policy advice, capacity building, and knowledge transfer in a different subsets of environmental policy topics, with clients ranging from European institutions to national governments in Europe, to international clients such as bilateral and multilateral donors and international financial institutions. As part of the expansion of our business operations, we are looking for a Junior Consultant to join our Environment Team either in our premises in Rotterdam, Brussels or Paris.

About Trinomics

Trinomics specializes in providing independent research, advice, and solutions to (semi-)public clients in relation to climate, energy and the environment. From a thematic perspective, the environment team has a strong track record in EU biodiversity and circular economy policies. Our team has participated in the development of key environmental EU policies, including having led the ‘Evaluation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020’ and the ‘EU ecosystem restoration targets impact assessment’ that has most recently led to the European Commission’s proposal of Nature Restoration Targets.

Role Description

We are looking for new junior members to complement the environment team and that come equipped with a university degree in environmental fields or other relevant areas. The challenges within the environment domain are diverse, and so you will get to know many different types of work and subjects. Our environment team is focused on environmental topics such as biodiversity and nature, nature-based solutions, land-use and forests, soil health, water resources management, blue economy and marine ecosystems. We are working closely with partner teams within Trinomics on related topics such circular economy and waste, as well as sustainable finance, biodiversity finance and climate adaptation. Therefore, interest in these topics together with highly proficient English language skills are strict requirements for this position. Duties of a Junior consultant typically include:

• Develop content on project work with guidance from more senior consultants. Tasks may include:
  • Literature review;
  • Data collection of various types;
  • Analysis;
  • Stakeholder engagement:
    • Setting up and developing content for interviews, workshops, webinars;
    • Preparing and distributing documentation (questionnaires, power points, minutes).
  • Support the acquisition process, including:
    • Developing content sections of the proposal (background, methodology and risk mitigations);
    • Develop generic sections of the proposal (planning and organization);
    • Liaising with consortia.

Required

• A university or higher education degree in a relevant field such as Sustainable Development, Political Science and Economics, Engineering and Policy Analysis, the Environmental Sciences or equivalent;
• Minimum C2 English level (fluent written and oral communication). The ability to work in additional languages is an advantage;
• 1-3 years of work experience, including internships;
• You are solution-oriented, proactive, resourceful, reliable, energetic and you have an analytical mindset;
• Good MS Office skills, in particular MS Word and MS PowerPoint;
• Affinity to Trinomics’ objective and international working environment.
