Junior EU Advisor

FERMA is looking for a full-time Junior EU Advisor. The successful candidate will be assisting in the policy work of the association covering the following areas: sustainability, digital, insurance market, corporate governance and enterprise risk management (ERM).

1. Develop and Drive EU Advocacy Strategy

• Contribute to FERMA’s EU advocacy efforts, working with the EU Affairs Manager.
• Organise and coordinate working groups of risk experts from our 23 member associations.
• Collaborate with members to shape FERMA’s positions, drafting key documents like position papers, guidance notes, and consultation responses.

2. Build Strong Stakeholder Engagement

• Forge and nurture relationships with EU institutions, EIOPA, the OECD, and other influential stakeholders.
• Prepare and participate to bilateral meetings with EU officials on critical topics.
• Attend industry events, providing insights and reporting back to the team

3 Monitor, Advise, and Guide

• Track and assess legislative and policy developments affecting risk and insurance management.
• Advise on regulatory impacts and identify opportunities to influence EU decision-making.
• Design advocacy campaigns and represent FERMA in meetings and forums with EU policymakers.

4. Manage Projects, Working Groups and Committees

• Assist the EU affairs manager with the organisation of FERMA Advocacy Committees and drafting minutes
• Coordinate the work of FERMA members and external partners on projects (e.g., papers, reports, webinars etc.), ensuring result delivery within defined deadlines
• Collaborate on FERMA events and coordinate key actions
• Assist with other activities on request

Candidate Profil

• Graduate student in EU-law, economics, political sciences or other relevant field
• Knowledge of the EU Institutions and legislative processes; knowledge of risk management or insurance is a definite plus
• Experience in one of the European Institutions or a European trade association
• Excellent knowledge of English both speaking and writing; knowledge of French and other languages are a definite plus
• Excellent Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point); capacity of applying new tools such as AI
• Good research skills with a keen eye for details
• Good project management skills
• Flexible, dynamic, self-motivated and innovative, multi-tasking professional with a “can-do” attitude
• Availability to travel abroad when required
• Located in Brussels
