Under article 4.2, paragraph (e) of the Staff Regulations, the filling of vacancies in technical cooperation projects does not fall under Annex I of the Staff Regulations and is made by direct selection by the Director-General.

Technical cooperation appointments are not expected to lead to a career in the ILO and they do not carry any expectation of renewal or conversion to any other type of appointment in the Organization. A one-year fixed-term contract will be given. Extensions of technical cooperation contracts are subject to various elements including the following: availability of funds, continuing need of the functions and satisfactory conduct and performance.

Introduction
The position is based in the Registry of the ILO Administrative Tribunal (TRIB). The Tribunal is serviced by a Registry, comprising a Registrar and a small team of legal officers. The Registry’s secretariat receives the documents submitted in the course of the proceedings, supports the work of the judges and replies to requests for information.
The position will report to the Registrar of the ILO Administrative Tribunal.
Description of Duties
1. Draft summaries of cases and notes of jurisprudence in English and French, working from written submissions in both English and French. Incorporate relevant references to the Tribunal’s case law (using Triblex and DT Search system) that can be useful to the judges in writing their judgments.
2. Undertake research and studies on problems relating to international administrative law and related relevant jurisprudence.
3. Support the Judges and the Registrar during the Tribunal sessions. Prepare background material and documents as requested by the judges, and assist in the Judges’ deliberations. Ensure prompt preparation of final judgments for further processing after each session of the Tribunal.
4. Participation in internal Registry meetings of legal officers.
5. Contribute to updating the Triblex database.
6. Perform other duties assigned by the Registrar.
Required qualifications
Education
First level university degree in law.
Experience
Relevant professional experience would be an advantage.
Languages
Excellent command of two working languages (English and French) of the Tribunal.
Competencies
In addition to the ILO core competencies, the position requires:
Ability to: analyse defined aspects of legal issues, draft clearly and concisely to prepare studies and comments and take initiatives to keep up-to-date with new developments in the occupational area. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behaviour and attitude.
Conditions of employment
- Any appointment/extension of appointment is subject to ILO Staff Regulations and other relevant internal rules. Any offer of employment with the ILO is conditional upon certification by the ILO Medical Adviser that the person concerned is medically fit to perform the specific inherent requirements of the position offered. In order to confirm an offer from the ILO the successful candidate will be required to undergo a medical examination.
