Duties and Responsibilities
THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING The Global Aviation Training (GAT) Section is responsible for the planning, management, and coordination of all ICAO aviation training activities ensuring the efficient, effective and harmonized implementation of the ICAO Training Policy and response to training needs of Member States, international and regional organizations, aviation industry and other partners. GAT is the ICAO focal point of contact for all training and associated activities. The incumbent will report directly to the Digital Learning Design and Development Officer of Training Design and Development Unit (TDD) of GAT, who is responsible for assigning tasks, deciding on priorities and providing instructions on special tasks. The incumbent is also expected to work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) assigned by the Air Navigation Bureau (ANB) and the Air Transport Bureau (ATB), and other staff and external parties, as required. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Function1 (incl. Expected results) Designs and develops interactive online courses, including animation, video, and graphic elements, achieving results such as: • Support visual standards and user interfaces, including interaction and navigation, adapted to the specific objectives of theself-paced online course. • Design web-based and SCORM-compliant courses using Articulate 360 or other leading online authoring tools. • Create graphics, animation, and video using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Premiere. Function 2 (incl. Expected results) Collaborates with the Instructional Systems Designer, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Content Validator to create and update an interactive online course (Level 2 or Level 3), achieving results such as: • Support the Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) and content validators to develop and implement online courses that support learning strategies and objectives. • Translate multimedia instructional concepts into interactive graphics or animations that reinforce the concepts specified by the Instructional Systems Designer (ISD). • Develop an online course interface that illustrates critical concepts and desired learning outcomes to be used for the online course. Function 3 (incl. Expected results) Maintains online courses and other training on LMS, achieving results such as: • Configure and test courses on ICAO’s LMS, ensuring they meet all technical requirements and standards. • Ensure all LMS content is accessible and functional, providing a seamless learning experience for the trainees. • Troubleshoot course-related issues on the LMS, promptly addressing and reporting problems to the LMS Manager for resolution. Function 4 (incl. Expected results) Performs quality assurance of the online courses, achieving results such as: • Adjust and improve the online course materials based on quality assurance testing. • Make recommendations to enhance the quality of the overall learning experience. • Ensure all course materials adhere to the standards of accuracy and relevance. Function 5 (incl. Expected results) Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
Educational background: Essential A college diploma or certificate in the field of e-learning design and multimedia. Desirable A first-level university degree in Multimedia Design, or a training-related discipline Professional experience and knowledge: Essential ● A minimum of 2 years of work experience in multimedia design and developing online training courses within the last 5 years, preferably within international organisations. ● Proven experience in using Articulate 360 and Adobe Creative Suite. ● Proven experience in setting and testing Learning Management System (LMS). Desirable ● Experience in developing aviation training programmes, especially, competency-based training courses. ● Experience with the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme.
Languages
Essential Fluent reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities in English. Desirable A working knowledge of any other language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish)
Additional Information
It should be noted that this consultancy is to be filled for a period of 11 months. Please note that the monthly rate for Band A varies from CAD $3,991 to CAD $5,172.
