The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an intergovernmental organisation committed to advancing security of energy supply, economic growth and environmental sustainability through energy policy co-operation. The IEA operates as an autonomous body within the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Both the IEA and the OECD seek opportunities to work with an increasing number of non-members of growing importance to the world economy.
The Global Commission for People-Centred Clean Energy Transitions was established by the IEA Executive Director in 2020. It brought together ministers and thought leaders from across the world to identify key principles for ensuring clean energy policies are inclusive and people-centred, making recommendations that shape the agenda for clean energy policy makers. This work has set the agenda for a widening engagement and work programme on issues relating to the themes of decent jobs and worker protection; social and economic development; equality, social inclusion and fairness; and people as active participants in clean energy transitions. At their meeting in 2022, IEA Ministers directed the IEA Secretariat to continue to develop data analysis and policy recommendations on these priority issues.
The IEA seeks to recruit a junior policy analyst to help develop and lead the Agency’s work relating to people-centred clean energy transitions. The selected candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of IEA’s growing work on the people-centred aspects of clean energy transitions. This will include developing relationships and extending networks, helping ensure the quality, reach and impact of IEA’s work.
The successful candidate will have a background in a relevant field such as clean energy policy; employment and just transitions; social science, international development or policy analysis.
