UNDP helps countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and to build resilience in order to sustain development results. 

 

The joint UN Development Programme (UNDP) – UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) Programme in Georgia focuses on Building National Capacities for Conflict Prevention and is a signature cross-pillar initiative that aims to enhance UN support to national stakeholders on conflict prevention and sustaining peace.

 

As Junior Project Associate you support UNDP as follows:

  • Support the PDA team in programme implementation;
  • Assist in data collection, management and analysis;
  • Provide technical support to the PDA South Caucasus team;
  • Provide support in monitoring and reporting of programme activities (grants, travel to regions, compiling reports, etc.);
  • Collecting data for Crisis Risk Dashboard (CRD) for the 3 South Caucasus countries;
  • Etc.

Part of the Talent programme “Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank“, this position is sponsored by the Peace and Human Rights Division (PHRD). An International UN Youth Volunteer contract ensures that travel, relocation and UN health insurance costs are covered. Additionally, a monthly living allowance is paid. Skills required

For the programme:

  • Swiss nationality;
  • Master’s degree;
  • Ideally 12 months of relevant professional experience (min. 3 months – max. 24 months);
  • Max. 28 years old at the date of application;
  • Excellent command of English and 2 official Swiss languages (one active = C1/C2, one passive = A2/B1);
  • Proven interest in joining the international cooperation sector.
  • Driving license for PHRD financed positions.

For this position:

  • Master’s degree in political, social and humanitarian sciences, international studies, international law or any other related field;
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) in:
    – Project implementation, crisis management, recovery, IDPs/refugees related issues.
    – Peacebuilding, conflict-related media and political studies is an asset.
    – Managing information in international development or humanitarian context is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required and working knowledge in Russian desired.

Application deadline: 03 September 2024

First round of interviews carried out by cinfo: between 23 September and 02 October 2025

Final selection: will be made by the host organisation based on cinfo’s recommendation and a second interview with them. Selected candidates will be informed around November.

 

Onboarding and training: The onboarding process will start after the selection. Selected candidates will have to attend mandatory predeparture training in Biel in January or February.

Entry on duty: Departure is possible after the mandatory training. The final departure date will be discussed after the selection and depends on several factors.
