The overall objective of the program is to support the Member States to strengthen and accelerate the agenda of disability, injury prevention and rehabilitation towards achievement of Universal Health Coverage and leaving no one behind. Within this context, the Regional Office will provide technical support through the developments of guidelines, tools and other strategic documents and information.
Under the overall guidance of Director, Department of Healthier Populations and Noncommunicable Diseases (HPN) and under direct supervision of Regional Advisor  Disability, Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation, the JPP will provide support in the following areas:
  • Conduct desk reviews of disability inclusion, rehabilitation needs for the region
  • Support in the implementation of the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS) and other initiative
  • Coordinate UNDIS meetings and coordinate webinars, virtual and face to face meetings on UNDIS, disability inclusion, rehabilitation, and other areas of Disability, Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation (DPR)
  • Coordinate with mental health unit in the areas of mental health disabilities.
  • Coordinate with NCD unit and elderly unit in strengthening disability, rehabilitation, and palliative care services
  • Develop training materials both for onsite and online courses in the areas of disability and rehabilitation
  • Draft meeting reports and training activities, develop communication materials and media advocacy materials
  • Other activities as assigned by the RA-DPR and HPN with the focus areas of DPR. 
 Education:
  • At least a university degree in the areas of rehabilitation science, psychology, public health and/or a related field. Additional education is an asset.
  • High level of education PhD or research fellows
  • Knowledge in conducting reviews and research methodology
  • At least professional experience in disability, rehabilitation, and rehabilitative psychology
Work Experience:
  • Minimum
  • Minimum of at least one year experience in the field of disability, rehabilitation, and relevant areas
Skills required for the assignment:
Minimum:
  • Ability to coordinate, plan and implement projects, conduct training activities,
  • Computer proficiency in Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge in developing course materials including content developments in the areas of disability, rehabilitation, and pedagogical approaches.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
