Implementation of UNICEF’s Gender Action Plan (GAP) 2022-2025 requires effective knowledge management systems, information exchange and the internal dissemination of gender-related materials within UNICEF for strengthening gender transformative programming and results across the organization.  

PG Gender Equality is seeking a Knowledge Management Consultant to provide advisory services to facilitate effective knowledge exchange and mutual learning of GAP-related knowledge, products, and experiences.

Scope of Work:

Under the supervision of the Gender Planning and Programme Specialist, and in consultation with other colleagues within PG Gender Equality, the KM Consultant will be responsible for the following service areas:

Content development and packaging; and

Capacity building, collaboration, and learning

Key Deliverables:

  • Content development and packaging: At least 30 Gender TeamSite communication and collaboration sites updated, mirroring progress on GAP 2022-2025 implementation (31 March 2025)
  • Content development and packaging: 6-8 new SharePoint pages designed and developed based on input/content received from PG Gender Equality and gender colleagues in ROs/Cos, including on M&E      (31 March 2025)
  • Content development and packaging: 4 new Gender Teamsite libraries developed and tagging and storing of content in 30-40 libraries (31 March 2025)
  • Capacity building, collaboration, and learning: Organise and deliver 2-4 webinars on key gender topics as requested by PG Gender Equality team members, producing a brief outcome summary for each (31 March 2025)
  • Capacity building, collaboration and learning: Address 40-50 help desk requests/queries from PG Gender Equality team members, including onboarding requests on knowledge management (31 December 2025).

Qualifications:

Education: 

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in social sciences (i.e. sociology, demography, psychology, political science, social policy or economics), public health, public policy, public administration, international development, or in an area relevant to UNICEF’s sectoral work (e.g. Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, Child Protection, Social Protection, Inclusion, HIV/AIDs, etc.) is required.

Work experience:

Knowledge Expertise Skills required : 

  • A minimum of 5 (five) years of progressively responsible professional experience and demonstrated track record in knowledge management, internal communications, and capacity building in these domains.
  • Past experience with UNICEF in children’s rights, women and girls’ empowerment, gender rights is an advantage.
  • Must demonstrate excellent writing skills with specific experience writing on gender related issues and knowledge products
  • Be able to work independently as well as with a team in an international, multicultural, and interdisciplinary environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
  • Experience in work environment of an international agency, UN, or international institutions is desirable; prior experience in UNICEF is an asset.
  • Experience in developing country contexts and an understanding of development challenges from the field perspective is desirable
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Windows, MS Office applications, Sharepoint and Teamsite management).
  • Knowledge of UNICEF/UN systems is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively to different audiences.
  • Familiar with Do No Harm principle and ethics.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
