ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Headquarters (HQ), Regional Bureaux (RBs) and Country Offices (COs), and report to the Regional/Division/Country Director or the designate. Job holders operate with a high degree of independence, are likely involved in activities and analytical work of a high complexity, and contribute to Operational Information Management and Performance Reporting improvement. 

JOB PURPOSE

To support the development and implementation of Knowledge Management (KM) initiatives to institutionalize Knowledge Management in line with WFP’s corporate Knowledge Management Strategy, and foster a culture of organizational learning, strategic collaboration, and continuous improvement that leads to greater efficiency and impact within WFP’s mission for Zero Hunger.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Knowledge Management
1. Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of a Knowledge Management Strategy, Framework, and/or Action-Plan to advance the institutionalization of Knowledge Management.
2. Undertake activities for discussing, documenting, synthesizing, storing, sharing, and applying knowledge to incorporate key Knowledge Management approaches into existing ways of working.
3. Liaise with appropriate KM colleagues across WFP to support the uptake of existing evidence and identification, development, and improvement of Knowledge Management practices, approaches, and effective solutions to strengthen corporate knowledge management.
4. In collaboration with the Innovation, Change and Knowledge Management (INK) Division, keep current on emerging trends in the field of Knowledge Management and proactively propose solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of KM tools, approaches, and processes.
5. Analyse and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to knowledge management activities and prepare reports on the use, impact and success of knowledge management initiatives.

 

Knowledge Capture & Documentation
6. Assist with the development and implementation of approaches to identify and document knowledge, good practices, and innovations from teams and projects to ensure critical knowledge is effectively and appropriately captured and retained.
7. Support with the development and implementation of methodologies for effectively synthesizing knowledge into a variety of useful products to enable the re-application of knowledge and evidence and scaling of better practices.
8. Create and maintain a knowledge repository to ensure all team related knowledge, learning and supporting resources are easily accessible and up to date.

 

Knowledge Access & Sharing
9. Contribute to the maintenance of WFP’s knowledge management platforms, in alignment with WFP’s corporate taxonomy and metadata tagging standards to ensure all staff have access to updated, relevant, quality knowledge content and products.
10. Promote knowledge sharing through relevant channels to raise staff awareness and encourage usage of knowledge management processes, tools, and platforms.
11. Share external publications with WFP’s Library and Resource Center (LRC) to contribute to a corporate repository of all WFP external publications.

Organizational Learning & Continuous Improvement
12. Undertake activities to support learning before, during and after projects to ensure existing organizational knowledge and learnings are incorporated into workplans, and new learnings and evidence are applied to current and future work.
13. Contribute to the design and delivery of training and capacity development initiatives to support building the capabilities of WFP staff on the use of Knowledge Management processes, tools, and systems.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Has a conceptual understanding of Knowledge Management, Change Management, Project Management, and Learning concepts, principles, and methodologies.
  • Has contemporary and progressive Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) skills and experience in managing online knowledge platforms.
  • Has good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify trends.
  • Has experience in publication design and developing knowledge management materials.
  • Has good oral and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate insights to a range of stakeholders in and outside of WFP.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University degree in Knowledge Management, Information Management, Business Management, Social Sciences, Learning or other relevant fields, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data management and visualisation;
  • Experience in humanitarian context mandatory and experience in food security related topics is highly desirable.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in using database and statistical software (Tableau, Power BI, DOT, SPSS, STATA, R script) and data visualization platforms;
  • Willingness and ability to work in difficult environments, in often stressful time critical situations;
  • Formal training in cluster IMO / previous Cluster experience or multi-stakeholder coordination experience (e.g. consortium) is desirable;
  • Ability to work independently under minimum supervision and supervise a team.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English and French.
