Job summary

Join our Bioengineering Technical Team and contribute to the cutting-edge education of future innovators! We’re seeking a talented, motivated, and dynamic laboratory Teaching Technician to manage and support our undergraduate wet laboratories.

Your role will be pivotal in supporting undergraduates, working alongside academic leads and professional teaching staff to deliver impactful lab sessions. Beyond routine preparation, you’ll engage directly with students, offering guidance and ensuring a safe, productive, and inclusive learning environment.

Duties and responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

· Line management of a teaching support technician, supervision and training of others to deliver the teaching labs.

· Coordinating lab activities and resources for optimal class delivery.

· Supervising work within the teaching labs and ensuring health and safety standards.

· Collaborating with faculty and teaching support / professional staff to maintain seamless operation of lab activities and schedules.

Essential requirements

The ideal candidates will possess:

· A science or Bioengineering degree and experience in a higher education technical role. Previous teaching support experience would be advantageous.

· Excellent practical technical knowledge, ideally in an HE laboratory setting.

· A proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced setting.

· A strong ability to communicate effectively, coupled with a strong commitment to teamwork.

To note, for this role flexibility is essential, as the vibrant academic calendar demands adaptive working hours. There will also be an element of routine manual handling and physical work in the collection of deliveries, class set-ups, lab support etc.
