Landscape Construction Foreperson / Site Supervisor

Watershed Progressive is a mission-driven design-build collaborative based in Ojai, California. We specialize in regenerative water management and ecological landscaping throughout Southern California. Our work integrates greywater reuse, rainwater harvesting, stormwater management, and native plant installations to build community-based climate resilience. While this position is based in Ojai, you will occasionally collaborate with our Northern California team, supporting shared project efforts across the state when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and execute complex or commercial landscape construction projects on-site
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to develop and implement work plans and schedules
  • Train and manage field crews; maintain high standards for quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Oversee irrigation system installs, greywater/rainwater system setups, and native plantings
  • Track budgets, report on progress, and manage site documentation
  • Lead construction safety practices and support communication with clients and subcontractors
  • Interpret technical schematics and provide feedback on design feasibility
  • Travel within region (Southern CA or Sierra Nevada) as needed for field assignments

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years experience in landscape construction or ecological installations
  • Proven leadership experience in field supervision
  • Expertise in irrigation, water harvesting, LID features, and native planting
  • Ability to read plans and manage construction documentation
  • Comfortable working outdoors and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Preferred (Not Required) But Highly Desirable

  • C-27 Landscape Contractor License
  • Familiarity with stormwater BMPs, California water regulations, and hydrology
  • Spanish/English bilingual
  • Certifications such as QWEL, ARCSA, PDC, Greywater Action, etc.
  • Class A Driver’s License (highly desirable)
  • Experience working with underserved communities
