We are looking for Part-Time/ Casual/ Hourly Lay Health Promoter/ Outreach Workers to join the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research as part of the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, TX. In this position, you will provide outreach and/or lay health education to campus communities in colleges in participating in Own Every Piece’s reproductive health campaign as a reproductive health campus ambassador. Campus Ambassadors will play a crucial role in providing reproductive health education, organizing events, and fostering a supportive environment for students to engage in conversations about sexual health and well-being. Position Summary:
Provides outreach and/or lay health education to campus communities in colleges in participating in Own Every Piece’s reproductive health campaign as a reproductive health campus ambassador. Campus Ambassadors will play a crucial role in providing reproductive health education, organizing events, and fostering a supportive environment for students to engage in conversations about sexual health and well-being.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Act as a representative of Own Every Piece on campus to promote reproductive health awareness and destigmatize related topics
- Organize and execute on-campus events, workshops, and seminars focused on reproductive health education.
- Establishes relationships with student groups, health services, and other campus organizations to co-host events.
- Assists in the recruitment of program and study participants for OEP related programs and community research projects.
- Gather feedback from students to assess the impact of outreach efforts
- Contacts study participants to schedule educational sessions.
- Encourages their campus community to participate in the project and may provide education based training through face-to-face outreach and the use of various communication channels, including social media, to share information about events, resources, and reproductive health services.
- Communicates study participants questions and/or concerns to Project Director, Principal Investigator or Co-Co-Principal Investigator and leaders about the program’s objectives and progress
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Certification/Skills:
- Current enrollment in a college or university program
- Passion for reproductive health and a commitment to promoting awareness
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan and execute events independently
- Bilingual – English and Spanish preferred but not required.
Minimum Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; but not required.
Minimum Experience:
- None.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
