Summary

The Lead Associate, Financial Reporting & Analysis will provide financial expertise and analysis for a geographically based portfolio of awards. Using an integrated and collaborative approach to managing our funding, this position is key in ensuring that prompt and accurate financial data is sent to donors and that Save the Children continues to have a strong reputation for financial reporting. You will prepare required donor financial deliverables, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner. You will coordinate across divisions as well as with country offices, to ensure financial reporting is in line with donor expectations and to resolve any transactional queries as they arise. You will be responsible for maintaining the appropriate document support, updating relevant award management systems and monitoring donor receivables.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Preparation & Submission of Donor Reports (45%)

  • Monthly, quarterly and/or semi-annual preparation of accurate, timely financial reports & invoices for assigned portfolio.
  • Review of country office prepared financial reports for accuracy and guidance on any necessary adjustments prior to donor submission.
  • Coordination of drafted financial reports with assigned award manager.
  • Manage consolidated accounts payable tracker for entire portfolio of awards and communication of status to donor upon submission of financial deliverables.
  • Identify incoming donor payments and provide coding accordingly.
  • Upload reports as needed in various donor mandated systems correctly and within required timeline.
  • Collaborate across divisions to advise on most appropriate setup for reporting to donors.
  • Financial Analysis & Support (25%)
    • Analysis and reconciliation of detailed transactions identifying any necessary outliers (i.e., budget v actual; partner advances; inconsistent use of coding, etc.).
    • Process any necessary adjustment as result of award analysis OR, communicate to necessary party and follow through until resolution (Country office, payroll team, etc.).
    • Maintenance of reclassification requests via our team’s “Helpdesk” for assigned portfolio ensuring accurate and timely adjustments to achieve set KPI (Key Performance Indicators).
    • Proactively advise on grant closeout in coordination with country offices and assigned business team/ award manager.
  • Information management (15%)
    • Responsible for correctly tracking reports due and submitted for assigned portfolio.
    • Ensure all required deliverables are retained via our awards repository system.
    • Participate in Life of Award review and dashboard development for assigned portfolio.
    • Propose ways to improve awards repository system and Agresso, our accounting system, for increased efficiency.
  • Training and TA (15%)
    • Participate in the development and delivery of trainings on donor compliance and reporting requirements.
    • Conduct TA visits to Save the Children International Country Offices as may be needed.
    • Create and or update SOPs directly related to role as needed or when steps are revised.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • USG or Non-Profit Grant knowledge and experience
  • Experience working in general ledger and financial systems
  • Experience in applying and interpreting regulations, policies and procedures
  • Attention to detail and experience in overseeing/managing multiple projects across divisions
  • Prompt/ accurate delivery of information, and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Able to build effective relationships within peer workgroup
  • Financial Management experience
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion on significant matters related to functional area
  • Able to work with minimal supervision but still keeping manager abreast of important issues
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education in accounting or finance
  • Contract mechanism reporting or management
  • Experience working in a fast paced and matrixed organization

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 – NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $66,300 – $74,100 base salary
  • Geo 2 – Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $60,350 – $67,450 base salary
  • Geo 3 – Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $54,400 – $60,800 base salary

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.  Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.  Save the Children also offers paid vacation, accrued at least 12 days a year, depending on paygrade and length of service, paid safety and wellness leave of at least 1 day per month worked for a full time employee which is pro rata reduced for employees working less than a full time schedule, and at least 10 paid holidays a year. Employees may be eligible for additional bonus compensation.
