HappyCow, a global platform assisting people in making conscious, kind, and healthy food choices, is seeking a Backend PHP Developer to join our dynamic and collaborative team. Our platform lists hundreds of thousands of vegan-friendly restaurants and stores worldwide.
We are seeking a PHP Developer who is passionate about developing scalable web applications and eager to bring innovative solutions to our global platform.
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the backend of our web applications.
- Work closely with our frontend team to design and implement APIs.
- Participate in the deployment and management of server hosting in cloud environments.
- Stay up-to-date with new technology trends and coding standards.
- Contribute ideas for new features and improvements to our platform’s architecture and infrastructure.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in backend development with a solid foundation in PHP
- Proficient with Linux, PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, MVC, MySQL/MariaDB
- Comfortable with git
- Experience with the Phalcon web framework (or other PHP/web frameworks)
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, Cloudfront
- Experience with Stripe integration
- Experience with HA web services and DB replication
- Experience with ManticoreSearch, RabbitMQ, PHPUnit, RESTful API design and development
- Fluent in English with excellent communication skills
- Self-reliant and able to set up your dev environment with minimal support
- Able to dive into and learn new and different technologies
Nice to Haves:
- A personal commitment to veganism or vegetarianism for ethical reasons
- Experience with additional databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and Google Services.
- A keen interest in modern software development practices and technologies.
