We are seeking a Lead Researcher to join the department of Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy (BMTCT) in our Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Core.

At St. Jude, you will be part of a collaborative, bench-to-bedside environment where you can see, firsthand, how your science translates into survival for the children we serve. In the BMTCT, we strive to perform cutting-edge laboratory and clinical research, particularly in the areas of immunogenetics, cellular therapy, transplant tolerance, immune reconstitution, infection control, and survivorship. In this position, you will collaborate with leaders in cancer and translational research across the institution and department to provide flow cytometric analysis and interpretation of patient samples. 

 

Competitive candidates should be highly motivated and have a combination of experience with flow cytometric data analysis and cell sorting, as well technical knowledge of the instruments and method controls.

Preference to those who have a strong background in complex, multi-color flow cytometric analysis, and can work independently as well as as part of a team, are self-motivated, adapt to an ever-changing patient schedule, and have a positive attitude.

 

In this role, you will be a member of the BMTCT Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Core you will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the lab.  With access to six analyzers, including BD Canto II, BD Lyric, BD LSRFortessa X-20, BD Symphony A5 SE, Symphony A5 SE, Cytek Northern Lights and two BD FACSAria III cell sorters.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities to include:

  • Operations of FACS and analyzer instruments, including monitoring equipment usage, and reagent supply
  • Maintenance and basic troubleshooting of flow cytometry equipment
  • Quality control
  • Process, stain, analyze and sort specimen samples from various sources (bone marrow, blood, tumor biopsy, and other tissue)
  • Sample and process tracking for multiple patient protocols and sample types
  • Analyze and prepare preliminary data
  • Presenting prepared data at regular intervals for collaborators at departmental and interdepartmental meetings
  • Developing and Following Standard Operating Procedures
  • Provide assistance to researchers and collaborators including panel design, analysis and sorting of samples
  • Assist in training new users

 

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area is required.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two (2) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master’s degree.
  • No experience is required with a PhD.

 

 

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 – $114,400 per year for the role of Lead Researcher in Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Core.
