tendersglobal.net

We’re recruiting a Lead Strategy Advisor (Farming, Nature and Landscape) to translate
Government policy into strategy for the Lake District National Park and to care for what is
special about this place.

We’re at an important stage of delivering our Lake District National Park Partnership (LDNPP)
management plan and this role will play key part in restoring nature, adapting to climate
change and continuing our journey towards net zero. The Lead Strategy Adviser will also support
the ongoing agricultural transition and develop strategies and projects with partners to ensure
we meet the opportunities these present.

What’s it like to work here?

As part of the Strategy and Environment team, you’ll be working closely with our Natural
Environment Advisers and Policy Advisers, Farming Officer along with an experienced and
talented team of work colleagues and partners.

We’ve moved to hybrid working combining working from home and days at our office base in
Kendal. You’ll be provided with a laptop to enable you to access our secure IT network when
working remotely. Our main office sites are in Kendal, Haverthwaite and Threlkeld, so they’ll
also be opportunities to travel through the park to meet with key staff and work at our other
bases.

The role

As a Lead Strategy Adviser, you’ll co-create evidence-based strategies and plans to deliver
farming led-nature recovery whilst sustaining our cultural heritage and translating this into
delivery to achieve a range of benefits to the people who live, work and visit the Lake
District National Park.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership, advice and support for colleagues across the Authority, and
particularly our ‘Team Nature’, to deliver ambitions for climate adaptation, farming led nature
recovery, give specialist input to commons management, World Heritage Site matters and for the
grant scheme Farming in Protected Landscapes
  • Keeping an overview of the challenges and opportunities that we manage all the time
providing responsive advice and guidance to a range of colleagues and stakeholders across a
variety of thematic areas for nature, climate, people and places around the Park
  • Responding to and developing our approach to nature recovery, integrating the new Protected
Landscapes Outcomes and Targets Framework into our work and landscape monitoring; as well as
developing nature-based finance opportunities, delivering innovative strategies for how these
become accessible to Lake District farmers and land managers
  • Working with colleagues, partners and communities to develop programmes of projects that
deliver our strategies, and which are appropriately resourced from securing funding bids as
    well as nature-based finance
  • With partners, coordinate the delivery of our Management Plan outcomes for forestry,
farming, nature and climate and other relevant strategies such as the Cumbria Local Nature
    Recovery Strategy
