Lead Teaching Assistant

This is a hands-on classroom role where you will work closely with the Headteacher and teaching staff to provide tailored support to SEND students, lead small group interventions, and supervise a team of support assistants. You’ll also play a key role in safeguarding, behaviour management, and parent engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class support for SEND students, helping them access the curriculum.

  • Lead small group or 1:1 interventions tailored to student needs.

  • Act as the first point of support for Teaching Assistants, offering guidance and mentoring.

  • Work with the Headteacher and staff to create an inclusive, nurturing environment.

  • Assist with planning, assessment, and progress monitoring.

  • Support with safeguarding procedures, behaviour management, and communication with parents/carers.

Essential Skills & Experience

✔ Experience working with SEND children and young people.
✔ Strong knowledge of autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and inclusive teaching strategies.
✔ Proven ability to support learning in small groups and 1:1 settings.
✔ Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
✔ Organisational skills with the ability to lead and motivate a small team.
✔ Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in an educational setting.
