Working under general direction, incumbent serves as the Lead Sonographer to Principal ultrasound technologists serving as a department resource ensuring diagnostic ultrasound examinations are completed according to established protocols. Acts as a subject expert and assist other sonographers as needed. Manage the daily operations of the department including approval of same day add-ons and future overbooking of the schedule. Contributes to, and participates in, work organization, quality improvement projects, and scheduling of staff.

Coordinates daily workflow and staff assignments as well as flex staff out when the volume goes down. Serves as Departmental point person for bio-med and facilities engineering. Responsible for training staff and monitoring adherence to our internal imaging protocols. Ensurescompliance with medical center policies and regulatory guidelines. Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent department operations. Demonstrates effective communication and conflict resolution skills with patients, coworkers, physicians and all other health care members. Assists Ultrasound Manager and Supervisor with staff meetings, hiring, performance evaluations feedback, and other projects as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Graduate of a school of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program OR equivalent experience.

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS in ABD and OB/GYN. Musthave one additional relevant RDMS specialty credential(s): RVT, BR, RMSKS, PS, FE, or specialize in Contrast Enhance Studies, Operating Room Studies, Elastography, Biopsies, Neurosonography and Transcranial Dopplers.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Four (4) years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of sonographyeducation and experience.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and some overtime, as needed.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $150,795 – $166,455 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $72.22 – $79.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
