About Trocaire
Trócaire is the official overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland. Trócaire was established to express the concern of the Irish Catholic Church for any form of human need, but particularly for the needs and problems of communities in the Global South. With our partners we work with some of the world’s poorest people, supporting women, men, and communities for long-term change. In Ireland, we raise awareness about the causes of poverty through our outreach programmes in the education sector, through parish networks, and through our public campaigns and advocacy work. Context of work
The Future Leaders Program is an 18-month transformative journey designed to cultivate and empower emerging leaders. The programme is aimed at staff from the Global South who are working in middle/senior management in country offices or in Global roles. This comprehensive programme integrates a range of learning modalities. It includes two in-person workshop, a coaching program, a cultural immersion exchange programme, work-based projects, peer-to-peer coaching, and a robust mentorship initiative. Each component is strategically crafted to provide a unique value proposition, contributing to the holistic development of participants. The first cohort of Future Leaders will set to commence the programme in April 2024. The program will have a blended model with the in-person sessions held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Future Leaders Program strives to cultivate leaders within the global south, equipping them with skills, a global perspective, and the capacity to excel in organizational roles, including Country Directors and other senior roles. in alignment with Trócaire’s mission and values.
Scope of work
The assignment is set to support the leadership development program through training, coaching, and administration of DISC and 3600 assessments.
Leadership Training:
This holistic program addresses knowledge gaps, behavioural aspects of leadership, and ensures a comprehensive and transformative experience for leaders.
The leadership training will include but not limited to co-designing a training needs assessment, curriculum and training materials development, learning evaluation plan, workshop facilitation. The workshop facilitation will include two in-person sessions lasting a maximum of 5 days per session and live virtual workshops to complement the in-person sessions. The facilitator will administer a DISC assessment and integrate the findings in the leadership program to enhance self-awareness of the leaders. The goal will be to co- facilitate a dynamic and interactive workshop with Trocaire technical experts, to foster collaboration and relationship building among participants in the in-person and virtual sessions setting the stage for a supportive community throughout the program.
Leadership/Executive Coaching
The coaching sessions will offer a continuous feedback loop back to the other program components to ensure a tailored approach to leadership growth, promoting self-awareness and skill enhancement. The coaches are to use among other tools, the 3600 assessments.
The coaching sessions will be spaced at six weeks intervals to provide consistent support to the participants. There will be a close collaboration between coaches and trainers to ensure comprehensive support and program adaptation. He sessions will be conducted virtually with some of the sessions being optional as per the participants needs.
Please note that this consultancy may be distributed between multiple candidates based on the skill sets of the applicants. Applicants are welcome to apply for the full assignment or for one of the two components.
Proposed Methodology
Leadership Training
- Learning evaluation plan for the leadership development program will involve a systematic approach to measure the program’s effectiveness. Aligning to the program objectives and selecting a diverse range of evaluation methods, encompassing both quantitative and qualitative measures. Conduct baseline assessments and continuous formative evaluations to monitor participant progress and gather feedback for real-time adjustments. Implement summative evaluations at the end of the program, including 360-degree feedback and performance metrics to provide a comprehensive overview.
- Curriculum and training materials development – Structure the curriculum Incorporating relevant theories, case studies, and practical applications to ensure a well-rounded learning experience that is aligned with program goals and the other components of the program.
- Co-creating engaging training materials, including a manual and or workbook, and presentations designed to not only impart knowledge but also inspire and equip participants for real-world application of the acquired skills.
- Blended workshop facilitation – Facilitate learner centred experiential workshops both in person and live virtual sessions.
- Collaborate with executive coaches in the program to integrate concepts from leadership development programs into coaching and vice versa.
Executive/Leadership Coaching
- Provide individual coaching to leaders supporting their leadership journey.
- Conduct comprehensive leadership assessments and feedback sessions.
- Create tailored coaching plans and development strategies for clients.
- Foster a supportive and challenging coaching environment that promotes growth.
- Collaborate with trainers in the leadership development program to integrate concepts from leadership development programs into coaching.
Timeline
This consultancy is anticipated to take twenty-seven days spread across an 18-month period from April 2024 to September 2025.
Final Product
Delivery of blended leadership development training and executive coaching. As well as progress and final report.
Experience/Skills:
Leadership Training
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (psychology, leadership, organizational development, human resources, talent development, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience facilitating a leadership development program.
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability
- Demonstrated committed to the development of leaders in global south.
- Understanding of the dynamics and context of humanitarian sector.
- At least seven years of professional, relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in virtual and in person facilitation.
- Accreditation to administer and facilitate DISC assessments is a requirement.
- Robust adult learning techniques
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Executive/Leadership Coaching
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (psychology, leadership, organizational development, human resources, talent development, etc.).
- Coaching certification or credential by a globally respected professional coach training organization (including ICF, IoC, ATD, CCE or equivalent) is required.
- Membership of a professional coaching body which provides opportunities for continuous professional development.
- Accreditation to administer and facilitate 3600 assessments is a requirement.
- Proven experience in executive coaching and leadership development.
- Experience coaching in both in-person and virtual formats will be highly considered.
