Job Summary

The Leadership Giving Fellowship program is a paid fellowship of up to two years designed for recent college graduates and early-career professionals to enter the field of advancement and become the next generation of front-line fundraisers.

The fellowship is a pipeline program whereby participants may gain experience in front-line fundraising for higher education, with the hope that UT Austin can develop their talent and retain them through placements across our fundraising operation.  

Each fellow will come away from the fellowship with new skills, knowledge of strategic communications, and direct experience in fundraising. Mentorship and coaching will be ongoing throughout the year. Assessment will take place for each Fellow at six months and after the first year to determine if the Leadership Giving Associate continues to the second year. 

Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.

Purpose

Raise philanthropic support for campus-wide entities by focusing on donors with a capacity of $25,000 to $100,000 as well as unrated prospects. Work in collaboration with the program supervisor to personally solicit gifts of $25,000 and above. Provide dedicated fundraising support to colleges, schools and units in key regions and priority areas for the University

Responsibilities

  • Grow and manage a high-volume portfolio of leadership/major gift level donors and prospects through multiple channels (phone, email, in-person, etc.).

  • Communicate university priorities effectively with a focus on listening to understand, professional demeanor and thoughtful engagement and inspiration.

  • Engage in research and use existing information to schedule 18-22 face-to-face meetings per month with alumni and friends of the university who have a giving capacity of $25,000+.

  • Cultivate donors toward multi-level gifts with the goal of raising $250,000 per fiscal year from gift commitments of $25K-$99K.

  • Solicit 15-25 gifts of $25K+ and solicit 5-10 gifts of $100K+.

  • Close 1-3 six figure gifts.

  • Alert relevant University Development staff about information gained as a result of donor engagement that could be leveraged for additional major gift giving.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. Strong customer service and stewardship skills. Strong presentation skills including the ability to persuade and connect audiences to our work in higher education. High-energy individual who takes initiative with a positive outlook. Flexible and able to adapt quickly to a changing environment. Able to think strategically with an emphasis on plan execution. Action-oriented. Self-motivated professional with a commitment to the University of Texas at Austin. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in business productivity tools including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to thrive in a collaborative team setting, and proactively accomplish collegially beneficial strategies.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range

$50,000

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
