Introduction
Do you have a passion for nature and wildlife? We have two opportunities to share your
enthusiasm as a learning assistant and help to deliver our education programme to visiting
schools. Typical activities range from hands on exploration of woods and ponds to playing
environmental games alongside classroom learning.
This reserve is a special area for wildlife, lying between the Severn estuary and the river
Usk. It is one of the most important areas of wetland habitat in Wales, providing a haven for
wildlife on the edge of the city.
What are the roles about?
You will need to deliver fun and exciting activities and assist the Learning Officer as part of
our Schools on Reserves programme . This aims to give schoolchildren the chance to experience
nature first-hand and you can be part of that exciting journey of discovery!
To deliver RSPB programmes for connecting schoolchildren and young people with nature through
curriculum-linked education programmes on the reserve.
This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference, enriching the lives of youngsters
and inspiring them to care and learn more about the natural world with the RSPB. We’ll give you
training and experience to build your confidence in helping children have a wonderful hands-on
experiences with nature. We can help you to gain the skills to kick start a career in
environmental or community education. You’ll be part of a small friendly team of staff and
volunteers and have the opportunity to make new friends.

These are Fixed-Term contracts (1 April to 31 July 2024) Part-Time roles for 22.5 hours per
week.
