The Smith Family is a children’s education charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to create better futures for themselves through harnessing the power of education.
We are seeking a Learning Club Coordinator to join our organisation. Reporting to the Team Leader, Learning for Life and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, this role will coordinate and run our after-school learning clubs at schools in Darwin and Palmerston.
The Learning Club Coordinator engages with the local community and students at partner schools, working casually approximately 6 hours per week. Gain experience in an informal learning environment and work with a small team of volunteers to deliver fun and engaging sessions.
About our role
You will be responsible for:
- Planning, implementing and facilitating weekly sessions during school terms, with support from TSF staff.
- Managing the safety and wellbeing of the students and volunteers in Learning Club.
- Ensuring supply and maintenance of Learning Club resources.
- Collecting weekly attendance data and semester evaluations.
- Providing TSF staff with regular updates on matters relating to Learning Club including volunteer staffing and student engagement.
About you
As well as passion for community, you will bring the following:
- Experience working with children
- Experience working with volunteers
- Demonstrated commitment to learning, developing skills and sharing knowledge
- Knowledge of issues affecting disadvantaged students
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Have or willing to obtain an employee Working With Children’s Check
