About the Position
The Learning Design Lead role is responsible for designing and delivering participant learning experiences across Teach for Australia’s programming including the Leadership Development Program (LDP) and the Future Leaders Program (FLP). Learning Design Leads are agile and adaptive generalist roles that coordinate and support project teams with the design and delivery of professional learning to teachers and leaders across Australia.
The Learning Design Lead works across the LDP and FLP teams and stakeholder groups to support high-quality learning experiences for program participants aligned with national standards and TFA partners. Learning Design Leads work across several workstreams, including in-person and virtual program intensives and workshops and coaching.

This role has flexibility for the candidates to be located anywhere in Australia.This can be a part time role (FTE 0.4 – 0.8) or can be a full-time role (FTE 1).Contract end date 31 December 2024
About You
Essential
- At least a bachelor’s degree in education or teaching
- At least 5 years’ experience in teaching, teacher support and/or leadership development roles in schools, including three years of teaching experience in schools with a low socioeconomic status.
- Experience designing, delivering, and evaluating adult professional learning
- Excellent project management skills and experience
Desirable
- Masters level degree (or higher) in education or teaching
- Experience in designing and delivering intensive-style programming for early career teachers and leaders
- Experience as a participant of Teach For All program or as staff of Teach For All partner organisation
- Project management qualification
- Experience in e-learning curriculum and resource development
- Experience in designing and delivering virtual and blended learning models.
Primary Accountabilities
Lead and support learning design and delivery
- Lead or support the development of key projects that inform program direction, including: National Initial Intensive; Regional Intensives; Coaching; Mentoring; and Ongoing Participant Professional Development
- Ensure learning design projects plan(s) are delivered in line with agreed milestones and report on progress and challenges
- Ensure purposeful collaboration in the delivery of learning design projects with cross-organisational teams and external partners and stakeholders (e.g., University Partner)
- Deliver learning in-person and virtually
- Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of learning design and delivery through survey and assessment
- Where acting as a workstream team member, support the project lead in the delivery of the above, including taking on project-specific roles
Unit Lead
- In collaboration with our University Partner, lead and/or support the development and delivery of units. This can include determining appropriate learning objectives and the design of session-specific materials, including session plans, accompanying resources, suggested readings, and sessional evaluation
- Within the quality assurance framework, train TFA facilitators to deliver content within relevant learning units effectively
- Serve as a TFA unit lead across the Masters of Teaching, including the role of primary course facilitator across the National Initial Intensive, and as required, support regions in the delivery of content
Leadership Coaching
- Oversee the coaching program delivered as part of the Future Leaders Program, including coordination and oversight of the team of casual Leadership Coaches engaged in the program
- Coach program participants one-on-one, primarily through virtual meetings to support them to set and achieve ambitious goals for themselves, their teams and their students
- Read and provide both written and oral feedback to participants’ change project (Innovation project) plans, hold participants to account to realise their plans, and help monitor progress of those plans via coaching support
- Provide feedback to participants on their leadership performance, based on direct observation and reviewing other forms of evidence
- Collect and analyse data on participant skills and impact to evaluate program effectiveness
Contributory Accountabilities
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Support alignment and sharing of learning between the Future Leaders Program and Teach For Australia Leadership Development Program as relevant
- Support activities and processes to select future participants
- Support design and development of evaluation activity to measure the impact of The Future Leaders Program
- Support reporting and program sustainability initiatives
- Develop and execute on plans to build networks of participants both within regions and nationally to support peer to peer learning, collaboration and sustainability of program outcomes
- Develop and build upon partnerships with key community organisations, recognised providers and leadership experts to foster ongoing connection and collaboration with key stakeholders
- Act as program and brand ambassadors when speaking about the program and work
