ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Child & Family Studies (CFS) is one of seven departments and schools within the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences (CBCS) at the University of South Florida (USF). Organized into three research divisions and four academic programs that work synergistically, CFS currently has approximately 275 faculty and staff members. During FY23, CFS is managing a portfolio of over 75 federal and non-federal contracts and grants totaling $78 million. Our research divisions include the Florida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC), Child and Family Behavioral Health (CFBH), and the Rightpath Research and Innovation Center. CFS’s four academic programs are Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health (CABH), Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling (CRMHC), and Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). Six graduate certificates and one undergraduate certificate are also offered. CFS efforts are consistent with the CBCS mission of combining knowledge gained through the behavioral sciences with knowledge gained from the community. CFS faculty, staff, and students, who are well immersed in the local community as well as state and national efforts, are deeply connected to the college’s focus of Creating Healthy Communities. POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Associate in Research and provides technical assistance, training and outreach for the Program Wide Positive Behavior Support (PWPBS) Project on the implementation of the Pyramid Model in early childhood programs. The Learning and Development Facilitator will provides on-site coaching and technical assistance (TA) to the leadership team and site staff at early childhood development centers and/or family child care homes in Hillsborough County. As a coach, facilitates a team-based approach in functional assessment and both targeted and individualized behavior support planning for children between the ages of birth to five. This position requires the application of effective written and oral communication skills in order to effectively create and facilitate the coaching approaches of the program via face-to-face and online trainings, PWPBS utilizes a practice-based coaching approach to making databased decisions to implement the program with fidelity, to promote social-emotional development of young children and address challenging behavior. The PWPBS project is funded by the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruits and provides on-site coaching and technical assistance (TA) to the leadership team and site staff at 3-6 early childhood development centers and/or family child care homes in Hillsborough County. As a coach, facilitates a team-based approach in functional assessment and both targeted and individualized behavior support planning for 15-20 children between the ages of birth to six. In addition, this learning and development facilitator will provide TA on data-based decision making on implementing the Pyramid Model with fidelity.
Trainings: Develop and present trainings both live and in web-based format. Edit existing materials and coordinate meetings, workshops, and trainings. Provide presentations on our Pyramid Model at a minimum of one conference event. Follow state early childhood standards and protocol, for participants to receive continuing education units (CEU). Guide a local learning community of Pyramid Model coaches and behavior-support coaches on PWPBS.
Outreach and Education: Assist with social networking, website development and maintenance, social-networking and local early childhood events. Information Development and Management: Learn, utilize and maintain database systems to support the local leadership teams and coaches with using Program-Wide Positive Behavior Support, assist with entering training/registration data into databases for retrieval and use in planning trainings, meetings, workshops; enter research data into database, carry-out literature search. Assist with child data analysis.
Partnership/Collaboration: Participate in the partnership with the Early Childhood Council (i.e., IMH steering committee, ECC quarterly meetings, foster care initiatives, etc.). Collaborate with ECCs Inclusion Support Services and Hillsborough School Readiness on providing individualized positive behavior support. Support Services: Document T/TA, assist with project events and meetings; assist in preparing written correspondences, project materials, reports, document preparation; provide day to day support in the running of the project and project office; and participate in monthly face-to-face meetings with internal team Assist with maintaining, ordering and storing project and training materials and supplies.
Professional Development: Attend funder’s provider forums, partner’s cross training, local professional development workshops/trainings, and at least one national/local conference.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with at least one year of experience in a professional training position, early childhood administration and/or providing training and technical assistance to early childhood programs. A Master’s degree in Communication, Education, Adult Education, or related field is preferred. Certain grants and programs may also have specific education and/or certification requirements specific to the subject matter area of the program.
PREFERRED: Two years of experience in early childhood education. A Master’s degree in Communication, Education, Adult Education, or related field is preferred.
