The Learning & Development Manager contributes to the achievement of strategic objectives by implementing learning and development initiatives to build and enhance people capabilities.

The role works across the organisation and with all parts of the P&C team and also with Operations and Risk & Audit. In particular, the Learning & Development Manager leads the design and delivery of training and learning solutions to meet operational training needs of the organisation.

The Learning & Development Manager also supports broader organisation performance and leadership capability initiatives.

This position leads a team of a part-time coordinator and one administrator (currently 1.6 FTE).

Key Responsibilities

Specific Role Responsibilities:

  • Design and Delivery of Organisation Learning & Development Needs
  • External Partnerships & Government Funded Training Programs
  • Organisation Capability & Performance

All employees are responsible for:

  • Promoting and protecting the human rights of people with disability, in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) (2008);
  • Working to ensure high-quality and safe supports and services for NDIS participants,
    meeting and exceeding the NDIS Practice Standards and
    Quality Indicators;
  • Meeting obligations under all relevant Victorian and Commonwealth legislation;
  • Working in accordance with the Yooralla Code of Conduct and Employee Manual;
  • Support a risk aware culture by proactively identifying and reporting risk
  • Identify, manage and monitor risks within their area and support a risk aware culture where staff actively identify and report risks.

Additional Information

Yooralla supports flexible working arrangements while seeking to build strong teams and an engaging workplace environment and leaders are expected to be present in the office at least 3 days a week.

Selection Criteria

Mandatory Requirements:

  • International Police Check (if required)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current driver’s licence to drive in Australia

Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant discipline such as: Human Resources, Psychology, Education or Training and Development or Business degree plus Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or relevant demonstrated experience

Professional Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in effective design, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of learning initiatives underpinned by Adult Learning Principles, using a range of channels and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop e-learning materials and assessments using relevant design applications and learning management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing effective leadership of a learning function and organisational development within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing continuous improvement strategies through best practice culture change management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with data sets and utilise excel and relevant reporting tools to develop organisational reporting and insights for senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of the Disability or Community Sector is highly desirable.

  • Confident presenter and facilitator in small and large groups
  • Pro-active, innovative and understands the need for cost effective use of resources.
  • Flexible leadership style, able to be consultative, supportive, and directive as required.
  • Leads and coaches direct reports to build team commitment and fosters continuous learning.
  • Role models organisational values and seek to imbed purpose and values into training design and delivery.
