Prof. James McClelland’s lab is seeking a Learning Research Professional. Research in the lab addresses a broad range of topics in cognitive science and cognitive neuroscience. The focus of this position is on capturing efficient, cumulative, and continual learning in natural learners (humans and animals) using artificial neural network models. There are several components to the effort, including the use of computer simulation to explore how learning occurs in simulated learners and the use of data from behavior and brain activity in human and non-human animals to explore the neural basis of these aspects of human learning abilities.
The incumbent will work with McClelland and collaborators to develop computational models and to perform and analyze results of relevant experiments on models and on human and animal participants. The incumbent will also prepare presentations including figures and written drafts of text for publication under McClelland’s supervision and in collaboration with others. The incumbent will also coordinate software resources used in the project and the management of data obtained from simulations and human/animal behavior. Finally, the incumbent will help coordinate research team meetings for participants in the multi-lab collaborative research project.
This is a 100%, one-year fixed-term, non-exempt position with the possibility of renewal based on funding. This position will be based on the Stanford campus.
