About the role
The Lecturer, Construction Cost Management, will lead unit teaching teams in UG and/or PG programs to improve the student learning experience and outcomes. The position will undertake and support development and delivery of engaging and informative units that cover various aspects of construction cost management, generating high impact outputs in their discipline area.
As a Lecturer, Construction Cost Management, you will be responsible for:
- Curriculum Development: Develop comprehensive course materials and syllabi for construction cost estimating, cost planning and control, lifecycle cost analysis, project feasibility analysis, and property tax depreciation. Integrate case studies, real-world examples, and practical exercises for enhanced learning. Continuously update content to reflect the latest developments, regulations, and best practices in the field.
- Instruction and Delivery: Deliver high-quality instruction through lectures, seminars/tutorials, hands-on activities, and site visits. Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment for active participation and critical thinking, providing guidance for student academic and professional growth.
- Student Assessment and Evaluation: Develop fair and transparent assessment methods, assessing student performance and offering timely, constructive feedback to promote improvement and achieve learning objectives.
- Professional Development: Stay informed on advancements in construction cost management through ongoing professional development activities and actively participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Collaboration and Outreach: Collaborate with colleagues and industry professionals to promote interdisciplinary learning, engaging with local communities, industry partners, and professional organizations to foster networking and internship opportunities for students.
To be successful, you will have:
- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
- Strong knowledge of Australian construction methods and
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and mentor students from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications and technologies used in construction cost management.

Additional Qualifications (optional):
- Proven experience working in the construction industry as a cost manager/ quantity surveyor / estimator.
- Prior teaching or instructional experience in higher education or vocational training settings.
- Professional membership with relevant bodies such as the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors or similar.
- Experience with online learning management systems and instructional technologies.
