Working Title Lecturer/Director of Field Experience
Brief Summary of Job Description The University of Nebraska at Kearney Teacher Education Department is seeking a Lecture/Director of Field Experience for Fall 2024.
Job Duties Reports to the College of Education Dean and the Chair of Teacher Education. Assigns student teaching and practicum placements; works with PK-12 schools to develop placement sites that are consistent with the philosophy of the College of Education; supervises a limited number of student teachers and practicum students; supervises student teacher and practicum supervisors; works with students, supervisors, cooperating teachers, and school administrators to help students complete a successful student learning experience; jointly supervises an office associate secretarial position with the Director of Educator Certification Office; conducts orientation and continuing professional development for UNK Supervisors and PK-12 cooperating teachers to ensure that supervision of field experience is consistent with the philosophy of the College of Education; ensures that the assessment of student teacher performance reflects CAEP accreditation assessments; works with the Dean and the Department chairs on workload issues in making student teaching assignments to UNK supervisors; updates handbooks for the student teaching experience as necessary; co-teaches TE 899P Student Teaching course each summer; maintains formal partnerships with Alief School District in Houston, TX and develops other partnerships; conducts seminars for student teaching; maintains a CANVAS site for student teaching sections; works with Financial Aide Office to award Coop Scholarships; teaches up to 3 credit hours per semester; and serves on various committees.
Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Education with at least five years experience of successful K-12 teaching; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; experience with or ability to learn CANVAS, PeopleSoft, MS Excel, MS Word, email or other programs.
Preferred Qualifications Experience supervising student teachers; administrative or management experience; knowledge of Rule 20 & 24 governing teaching education, and college level teaching experience.
