The School of Media and Communication at Westminster is looking for a lecturer to join our thriving Digital Media Production team, to support growth in this area. Our BA Digital Media is now fully established, with a large cohort benefitting from established international partnerships, and is a pilot within the University for sustainable education. Our new MA Digital Media: Storytelling and Production is recruiting for a September 2024 start. We are currently seeking accreditation for the BA Digital Media and its pathways.
The Lecturer in Digital Media Production will be part of the BA Digital Media team, teaching students on that BA and across the suite of Digital Media Production courses.
The successful candidate will act as the Pathway Lead for the BA Digital Media & Production pathway on our flagship BA Digital Media, and will develop our teaching in this area. This will include taking the lead to update and revitalise the pathway, helping to develop our teaching specifically in the areas of Web design, Short form video, Digital visual content creation, Audio & Digital production, as well as exploring the possibilities of virtual production & extended reality.
The facilities at Harrow include a Broadcast Suite, podcasting studios, design, edit & photography studios. We are currently developing a new Games Hub learning space, as well as doubling the capacity of the Emerging Media Space, which includes XR and other new technologies. These spaces are supported by technicians to enhance our offer to students.
The Pathway Lead will support the advertising & promotion of the BA Digital Media and Production pathway, and will help to secure external accreditation. There may also be the opportunity to take on deputy course leadership of the BA Digital Media. This is an excellent opportunity for a Lecturer with experience in web / video / audio / visual / digital production to take on wider teaching management responsibilities within a collegiate and creative team.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in both teaching & professional practice in the area of Digital Media Production, who can bring together theory and practice to help all students develop critical thinking skills alongside their practical skills. Support and training are available, and we encourage all new Lecturers to complete the Post-Grad Certificate in HE, run within the University for colleagues at no cost.
