Title Lecturer in Linguistics
School Faculty of Arts and Sciences
Department/Area Linguistics
Position Description The Department of Linguistics seeks applications for a lecturer in linguistics, with a focus on at least one of the areas of syntax, sociolinguistics, or computational linguistics. Please note that we will give full consideration to candidates who serve only one of these areas. The lecturer will be responsible for teaching four courses (two per semester). One of the courses, in the fall, will be a thesis workshop for undergraduate seniors. Another course, likely also in the fall, will be a graduate-level introduction to one of the fields mentioned above, as appropriate to the candidate’s background. The two remaining courses will be assigned based on the candidate’s specialization; we anticipate that one will be at the undergraduate level and the other at the graduate level. Furthermore, the appointee is expected to be available to contribute to the advising of both undergraduates and graduates in their area. The appointment is full time for one year and will begin on July 1, 2024 and end on June 30, 2025.
