  • Full-time, Continuing position

  • Salary Academic Level B ($105,548 – $ 125,341) + 17% Superannuation

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About the Role

The Lecturer, Information Systems is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in disciplines related to their field of expertise. More specifically, the Lecturer is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. The Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. The Lecturer may be responsible for course coordination.

We are seeking a highly motivated Lecturer in Information Systems will have an emerging but strong track record and recognition for quality research outputs (in particular, ABDC and/or Senior Scholars list of premier journals, see https://aisnet.org/page/SeniorScholarListofPremierJournals ) in the field of Information Systems; and be able to contribute to the further development of excellence in RMIT’s and the School of AISSC’s scholarship in the area of Information Systems.

About You

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • PhD or equivalent, in relevant field.

  • Expertise and high-quality research in current and emerging fields of research interest in the area of Information Systems.

  • A practice-focus mindset with a record of strong industry and community engagement in their area of expertise in both teaching and research.

  • A record of interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary research bring together information systems and one or more business disciplinary area will be highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.

  • Ability to undertake course coordination role.

  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.

  • Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs, and the ability to work in a team setting contributing to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.

  • Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

About the School of Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain

Launched in April 2020, The School of Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain (AISSC), within the College of Business and Law, is an innovative new school, offering our students unique courses and subjects in line with the changing needs of industry.

Bringing together what was two separate entities, the School of Accounting and the School of Business IT and Logistics, the new school is a leader in cross-disciplinary collaboration between accounting and technology, with increasing research outputs across all disciplines.

We will continue to establish and develop innovative research projects, strong industry connections, and unique discipline areas driven by experts of the field, professional partners and leading academics. Our key teaching areas are arranged across our four Departments; Accounting, Information Systems and Business Analytics, Financial Planning and Taxation, and Supply Chain and Logistics.
