As a European political party registered in Belgium EGP has to follow both Belgian and European law, as well as follow the guidelines provided by DG Finance and the Authority for the European political parties and Foundations, among others. The Legal and Procurement Officer will work under supervision of the Director of Finance, Compliance and Administration on the following tasks:

Legal

  • Provide legal advice on compliance within the Belgian and European legal framework as well as other European countries national legal framework;
  • Assist in the drafting, reviewing and managing of contracts for services, ensuring compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.

Procurement

  • Conduct, draft and/or help coordinate calls for tenders and call for proposals, in line with the EGP procurement policies and procedures;
  • Manage calls for tenders and call for proposals (e.g. publication, organisation of and assistance to the evaluation committee, selection process, contract award and signature, archiving);
  • Interface with relevant stakeholders within the EGP.

Compliance

  • Check the compliance of the EGP activities and products with the national and European law;
  • Develop protocols and checklists for internal processes;
  • Coordinate and supervise compiling event documentation for reporting.

The Legal and Procurement Officer will also provide support for the implementation of any other task falling in the sub fields of responsibilities of the Administration unit of the EGP.

Requirements:

  • Legal or finance background;
  • Minimum 2-3 years of working experience in similar positions;
  • Experience managing tendering processes;
  • Very good knowledge of the English language (working language of the organisation);
  • Top-notch organizational and coordination skills, including time and priority management;
  • Excellent people skills, ability to work independently and in multi-cultural teams;
  • Work permit in Belgium (due to brief timeline, EGP (European Green Party) will not be able to apply for a work permit for this position. This means that non-EU candidates must already have a work permit in Belgium to apply).

Assets:

  • Knowledge of French and Dutch;
  • Previous experience and ability to provide advice on employment law in Belgium and employment contracts;
  • Previous experience and ability to provide advice on GDPR;
  • Experience with Microsoft365 package;
  • While not mandatory, previous work experience within a Green Party would be considered an asset. Alternatively, work experience in a political campaign, another political organisation, an international institution, an NGO or a campaign organisation focused on EU politics will be considered an asset.
