Job Title: Legal Counsel – IT & Commercial ContractsContract Type: PermanentLocation: Edinburgh, London or Alderley EdgeWorking style: Hybrid 50% home/office basedClosing date: 18th November 2024We are currently looking for a Legal Counsel (IT & Commercial Contracts) to join our highly regarded Group Legal Team. This role will complement a team of in-house lawyers who provide strategic legal advice, guidance, and support across the Royal London Group.In this role you will use your skills and knowledge to undertake a range of legal activities, collaborating and developing key relationships with colleagues across the Royal London Group.About the role
- Act as Legal Counsel responsible for proactive provision of legal services, best market practice advice and guidance to the Royal London Group, predominantly in relation to IT contracts, outsourcing arrangements, and other commercial contracts.
- Draft, review, negotiate and conclude a range of documentation relevant to the wide variety of work you are involved in.
- Work as part of a greater team on cross-departmental projects, strategic projects, and key regulatory initiatives.
- Support the provision of cost-effective legal services. Take responsibility for outsourced legal advice, challenge where appropriate and interpret and communicate external legal advice in a commercial and strategic manner for the Royal London Group.
About you
- Qualified Solicitor from a Common Law jurisdiction.
- Strong experience in reviewing, drafting, negotiating and advising on a variety of commercial contracts.
- Experience in dealing with IT agreements including outsourcing arrangements, data sharing agreements, cloud computing agreements and Master Services Agreements strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and experience of Data Protection and Security, Operational Resilience, and Intellectual Property desirable.
- Experience working in the Financial Services sector with an understanding of the relevant regulations is preferable.
- Good level of commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Solutions-focused.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
