We are seeking Casual Lifestyle (Disability) Support Workers in the North-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, predominantly in Brunswick, Bundoora, Burwood, Collingwood, Heidelberg, Malvern and Reservoir.

Rubix Support is seeking engaged and committed employees who can work a variety of support shifts in a variety of setting (eg: accommodation and community settings) including day supports, sleep overs, morning, evenings and weekends.

With significant experience in the disability sector within both government and community organisations, Rubix Support is passionate about supporting people with cognitive impairments to lead the life they want to live and to achieve their goals and aspirations.

Rubix Support provide support to people aged between two years and sixty five years old. We are a registered provider under the NDIS and provide services across three main areas: Positive Behaviour Support, Support coordination and Lifestyle Support. We are focused on evidenced based best practice and are passionate about achieving positive outcomes for the people we support.

WHAT WE DO

Rubix Support aims to improve the personal wellbeing of people with cognitive impairments with complex support needs through specialised, coordinated assessments and supports; and to provide extensive training and supports to its empathetic, experiences and energetic staff.

Rubix Support’s Vision is to be a leader in the provision of evidence-based, practical, individualised behaviour assessment and support for people with intellectual impairments with complex support needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

A rewarding and challenging role, as a Lifestyle (Disability) Support Worker, you will be instrumental in providing support for our participants and making positive contributions to their quality of life.

You may be supporting someone with daily tasks within their own home or a supported accommodation environment, or on community outings such as going to work, the movies, providing personal care supports or shopping. Rubix Support will match your experience and interests with like-minded individuals – as the relationship between the Participant and worker is an essential part of providing quality services.

The people we support may have autism, an acquired brain injury, intellectual impairment or mental illness. It is important that you have an understanding of how these can impact a person’s ability and how to support their self-determination.

We are currently seeking individuals to join our motivated and supportive team in a casual capacity.

ABOUT YOU

Rubix Support are looking for people that:

  • Are great ‘people’ people!
  • Have experience supporting individuals living with disability (preferred)
  • Have good core values in relation to inclusiveness and respect
  • Have a passion for supporting people to achieve their goals and aspirations
  • Excellent communication and people skills; and are not afraid to ask questions
  • Have empathy and understanding for individuals and families
  • Have a current driver’s license, registered vehicle, fully comprehensive insurance to provide Participants transport support during shifts
  • Must have availability for a minimum of three days per week
  • Reside or are available to work within the Western and Northern suburbs of Metropolitan Melbourne
  • It is preferred (but not essential) that applicants have attained relevant qualification or are studying disability related qualifications (as per position description)
  • We also welcome those who may not have any direct experience supporting people with a disability but are committed to learning on the job
  • Are committed to following the company’s policies and procedures, and following all specialists’ assessments including behaviour support communication and occupational recommendations
  • Remain calm under pressure, identify risk factors ad make sound decisions
  • Have understanding and knowledge of the Disability Act 2006 (Victoria) and knowledge of supporting people with cognitive impairments

SCREENING and APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Rubix Support operates a stringent safety screening procedure for all preferred candidates in line with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements and requires all applicants to provide the following licences and certificates prior to commencement:

  • Two Professional Referees
  • A cleared NDIS Worker Screening Check (must have received clear check prior to interview)
  • Current (Employee) Working with Children Check
  • A current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • A current Drivers License and vehicle
  • Comprehensive Car Insurance
  • Proof of Australian working rights
  • Completion of NDIS Commissions’ Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You
