JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the General Foreperson of the Team and the overall guidance of the Chief, Travel and Transportation Section, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: – Assist with the daily operational requirements; – Operate light vehicles for the delivery of goods/materials; – Load/unload goods/materials from/to vehicle/loading dock/warehouse; – Inspect deliveries to ensure goods received are undamaged and conform to the purchase order specifications relating to quantity and product ordered; – Perform handling tasks of goods/materials of a special nature such as medical supplies;
– Operate heavy duty warehouse equipment such as fork-lifts, electric and manual jacks to move bulk supplies within storage facility and the UN complex; – Perform pre-trip inspection and basic preventative maintenance to vehicle/warehouse equipment to minimize inherent risks; – Maintain safe operation by complying with organizational policies, procedures and standards as well as state and local driving rules and regulations; – Electronically bar-code nonexpendable UN assets; – Prepare shopping carts for stock items; – Input relevant data in the Team’s database for recording and statistical purposes; – Perform ad-hoc duties as required.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
A valid driver’s license Class D at the time of the application is required and must be attached to the application .
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of experience in supply, inventory management and logistics support or related area is required. Experience in operating equipment such as forklifts (gas/electric) and electric jacks is desirable. Experience in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) and web-based applications is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required; and Knowledge of French is an advantage. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
