About the opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic individual with first hand experience as a family/carer, coupled with demonstrated lived experience expertise, to lead our organisation’s Lived Experience initiatives. This role involves collaborating on the operationalisation of the Lived Experience strategy, reviewing frameworks, providing leadership in reform efforts, and assisting in the development of consumer and carer councils.
Responsibilities also include driving policy change, developing frameworks, and ensuring workforce capability aligns with lived experience principles. The successful candidate will inspire a culture of collaboration, self-advocacy, and resilience, fostering a workplace that values diversity and inclusion. They will engage stakeholders, contribute to co-production efforts, and maintain the integrity of peer practices.
Additionally, the role entails leading community engagement activities, providing internal advice, and leveraging partnerships for positive health outcomes. Strong commitment, integrity, and diligence, along with effective communication and collaboration skills, are essential for success in this role.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Lived experience of supporting someone with mental health challenges/psychological distress.
- Minimum Certificate IV in peer support or lived experience of supporting someone with mental health challenges and has worked in a designated lived experience role
- Intentional Peer support core training completed (or willing to complete)
- Current valid Driver’s License and the ability to undertake regular travel
- Current Police Records Check
- Current Working with Children Check (as required)
- Right to Work within Australia
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- NDIS Worker Screening Check Card
