To provide Living Organ Donors with an entity to ensure the protection of their rights as living donors and prospective living donors.

  • Functions independently from the transplant’s candidate’s team.
  • Advocate for the rights of the living donor.
  • Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
  • Fulfills UVA training requirement regarding knowledge of living organ donation transplantation medical ethics and informed consent, the potential impact of family and other external pressures on the prospective living donor’s decision whether to donate and the ability to discuss these with the patient.
  • Reviews and documents that the living donor has received information on each of the following areas and assists the donor in obtaining additional information from other professionals as needed about the:

    * Informed consent process as described by OPTN Policy 14.3 Informed Consent Requirements

    * Evaluation process according to Policies 14.1.A : Living Donor Psychosocial Evaluation Requirements and 14.4.A: Living Donor Medical Evaluation Requirements.

    * Surgical Procedure

    * Follow-up requirements, and the benefit and need for participating in UVA follow-up requirements according to Policies 18.1: Data Submission Requirements, 18.5: Living Donor Data Submission Requirements, and 18.6 : Reporting of Living Donor Adverse Events.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.      

Position Compensation Range: $24.72 – $39.55 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience: 3 years of clinical experience is required.
Licensure: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
