Living Landscapes Officer (Trent Valley)

We’re looking for a Living Landscapes Officer to manage our Trent Valley Living
Landscape.

In this role, you’ll lead on developing our Trent Valley Living Landscapes, engaging with
neighbouring landowners to develop landscape scale nature recovery plans and community-led
action groups to help us in managing our nature reserves, supporting volunteers and working
with a wide range of partners. 

To be successful you will be an experienced land manager with a passion for rewilding, able to
mobilise volunteers, communicate and inspire the delivery of Derbyshire Wildlife Trust’s key
aims to partner organisations and landowners.

In this role, you will: 

  • Work with partners, neighbours, local communities and members of the public and other
    organisations to deliver our Nature Recovery Network within the identified Living Landscape. 
  • Identify and implement opportunities to integrate nature reserve management activities into
    the wider Nature Recovery Network. 
  • Draw up and develop natural process-led management plans for nature reserves, setting and
    agreeing objectives for people and wildlife for the reserve in line with the vision of the
    Nature Recovery Network. 
  • Ensure the development and facilitate the delivery of annual work and activity programmes
    across the Living Landscape. Ensure volunteers, community groups and contractors are engaged to
    support the implementation of nature reserve management plans including appropriate site
    monitoring. 
  • Develop projects and delivery plans across the Living Landscape which ensure the Trust
    meets its strategic targets and objectives of 30% of Derbyshire in positive management for
    wildlife by 2030.
  • Develop and deliver Agri-environment (or their equivalent) and other land management grant
    schemes, ensuring compliance with all scheme objectives, making applications as necessary. 
  • Work with a range of partners on collaborative and landscape scale ecological projects in
    an inclusive and inspiring way.

This role might be right for you if:

  • You’re dynamic, organised and focussed on achieving goals on a large scale.
  • You’re practical with hands-on experience of land management for nature conservation and
    able to work effectively and safely with volunteers. 
  • You’re a great communicator and able to inspire others with your enthusiasm and energy. 
  • You can work collaboratively with a wide range of partners and audiences.
  • You have good ecological surveying skills and can present results in appropriate formats
    for varying audiences. 
  • You can write high quality reports and management plans and contribute to effective fund
    raising.
  • You are a conscientious budget holder, managing spend efficiently and always making
    environmentally conscious decisions on spend. 
  • You have a full driving licence.

We are happy to talk flexible working!

This role will be based at our office in Middleton with although work at various locations
around the county will be needed. A balance of home and office working will be allowed. We are
a local charity so applicants should be easily able to access our office and other locations
around the county.
