About This Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Loading Dock Officer to oversee the day-to-day operations of the loading dock at the Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence (PACE) facility located at our Dutton Park campus. This facility is home to UQ’s School of Pharmacy and the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS ) and their respective laboratories.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the safe receipt and dispatch of chemicals and hazardous goods, associated administrative functions, and contributing to the maintenance of the School and Centre’s inventory systems and databases.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Dutton Park Loading Dock by processing incoming and outgoing goods including any associated logistics.

Maintain the School Chemical Inventory Monitoring system, recording and tracking all inwards chemicals, and ensuring all empty chemical containers are recorded prior to disposal.

Provide safe storage and handling of all goods processed through the delivery point including chemicals, biologicals, gas cylinders, scientific samples and laboratory consumables.

Maintain and monitor the cryogenic and gas storage facility; including the filling of PLC’s, Dewar’s, and stock holding of gas cylinders; ensuring supply of key facility requirements such as liquid nitrogen and lab gases.

Identify goods that require specific storage requirements, i.e. temperature sensitive materials, and ensure that they are properly stored until collected.

Develop and maintain a database of chemical storage locations and contacts.

Process outgoing goods and maintain an accurate register of goods dispatched from the store.

Maintain and record monthly Emergency Shower and Eye Wash Station Testing as per UQ Biosafety requirements.

Work with Finance staff to assist with the administration of invoices from purchase of goods.
This is a part-time (20 hours per week/55.17% FTE), permanent position at HEW Level 4. Please note you will be required to work Monday to Friday from 9am – 1pm.
At HEW level 4, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $70,235 – $74,468, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $82,175 – $87,127 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.
About You
-
An associate diploma or certificate level qualification in a relevant area with work-related experience OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.

A minimum of two years’ experience in a scientific store environment with strong client service orientation.

Knowledge of basic store procedures including stock management and receipting of goods.
-
Experience with the handling of deliveries containing chemicals or scientific samples.
-
Knowledge of security management within a research organisation with regards to distribution, storage and use of scientific related goods and equipment.
-
Proficiency with advanced computer applications and the use of databases.
-
Problem solving and exceptional organisational skills.
-
Capacity to liaise effectively with a wide range of people including staff, students, couriers, freighting companies, company representatives etc.

The ability to meet deadlines and to follow tasks through to completion.

The ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
The following would be considered advantageous:

Experience with Chemwatch Manifest software.

Knowledge of waste disposal, environmental management and spill control as outlined in the University’s EMS policy.
