We’re looking for a professional Local Area Coordinator (LAC) with relevant experience who wants to take part in a Pilot Project within the Disability Services Programs and Innovations Team. This opportunity will be 12 month full-time maximum-term until early 2025, working 38 hours per week based in the Hume Merri-bek (HMA) region.

BSL is working in partnership with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to deliver the NDIS across metropolitan Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.

THE ROLE

The Local Area Coordinator (Pilot) role is a 12 month, fixed term position. The position will form part of a small specialist team working delivering a Disability Programs and Innovation pilot. The pilot team will deliver active outreach, interim case management and coordination activities, navigation and support to people with disability without NDIS funding.

The pilot team will build community capacity and assist people with disability to access mainstream and community services. The pilot team seeks to systematically deepen community understanding of availability, affordability and accessibility of local services.

The pilot team will maintain a caseload and assist people with disability without NDIS funding to advocate, plan, organise and access the support and services needed to live an ordinary life.

Salary will be in the range of $93,802.33 – $100,930.33 per annum (including superannuation), based on skills and experience.

  • Relevant qualifications in fields such as Disability, Allied Health, Human Services, Social Sciences, Education, Community Services and/or
  • Lived experience with disability or awareness of the impact of existing or acquired disability upon individuals, families, carers and the community
  • Highly developed communication, listening and relationship building skills
  • Experience in working alongside community towards common goals
  • Confidence using a variety of computer programs and equipment and ability to enter information accurately
