Digital communication and social media have become powerful tools to reach multiple audiences and engage stakeholders in the continent and beyond, including youth, so as to inform but also convey the urgency of prioritizing children and the challenges they face. In an era of greater transparency and authenticity, social media and online communication are rapidly delivering a new standard of interaction between people.
Digital content and engagement will reinforce UNICEFs leadership and a credible voice for and with children. To drive change for children, UNICEF Philippines must fully develop its digital capacity and is seeking a digital content consultant with the skills to create engaging and creative content for relevant social media platforms.
The purpose of this consultancy position is to bolster UNICEF’s digital presence through dynamic digital content to strengthen its advocacy goals around key issues. This will be done through support around coordination, streamlining and production of digital content for flagship advocacy initiative’s, to other advocacy and emergency themes, global and regional communication campaigns.

Scope of Work:

The Digital Content Strategy Consultant will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of integrated digital strategy development and execution. The consultant will be responsible for providing clear focus of digital content production, increasing brand awareness, helping to expand reach and strengthen engagement among target audiences and partners.

The consultant will collaborate with colleagues to produce compelling content for UNICEF Philippines digital public channels and play a supporting role in the management of social media channels, website and other opportunities to develop digital platforms within the partnership.

  1. Co-lead on the development of digital content strategies, work planning, content shaping, optimization, and content releases.
  2. Manage UNICEF Philippines’ social media postings and local content production (videos, social media materials, human interest stories, donor visibility) in coordination with in-house teams and creative service providers.
  3. Provide support on the development of UNICEF Philippines’ youth and influencer engagement platforms, including on roster building and content co-creation efforts.
  4. Support internal liaison and coordination with focal points from programme sections or cross cutting task forces.
Tasks:
  1. Co-lead development of digital content strategies, work planning and content shaping and optimization.
  2. Deliver content production (videos, social media materials, human interest stories) in coordination with in-house teams and creative service providers.
  3. Support internal liaison and coordination with focal points from programme sections and cross cutting task forces.
Deliverables:
– Digital communication and advocacy materials as needed:
  • Monthly plans, creative content concepts and digital content production plans for prepared with in coordination with section and programme focal points.
  • Mapping of communication opportunities through liaison with communication and  programme sections.
  • Establishment of supporter content ecosystem through mapping and active engagement of youth content producers, influencers and potential co-creators, stakeholders, multipliers and influencers for coalition building around advocacy objectives.

– Support to creative tactic development, activation of partners and programme experts:

  • Update mapping and prioritization of visibility requests in coordination with the Advocacy and Communication Section.
  • Develop content guides for multimedia or story gathering.
  • Develop concepts, creative briefs and graphic for all editorial, graphic and video content.
  • Monitor content engagement and propose needed tactics to manage results and maximize performance in line with Digital KPI targets.
  • Ideation for new ways for storytelling, compiling best practices from other UNICEF country, regional or global channels
– Support the work alignment between relevant external stakeholders and teams in the CO:
  • Participation in digital content production specific meetings and support in ongoing evaluations or strategy development.
  • Liaison on relevant programmes supported by major donors and opportunities for joint digital content production.
  • Collect and consolidate feedback to evaluate success and areas for improvement for digital content.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in development communication (or general communication with specialization in development or political comms), research, political science/political economy, international/foreign relations, or other related fields in the social sciences.

Work Experience:

  • 2 years work experience with a postgraduate degree or 5 years work experience with bachelors.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ increasingly senior level experience working particularly in public advocacy, partnership preferable in social development area.
  • Proven track record in developing practical strategy and compelling and innovative approach to draw attention. In-depth knowledge and understanding of digital content environment, what works and how.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge applicable to improvement of digital media in a highly competitive landscape.
  • Strong network and ability to reach out to key actors and influencers to build communication alliance for UNICEF. Thorough understanding of creative and advance level use of traditional and new media for advancing public advocacy agenda.
  • Previous UNICEF/UN and/or INGO experience in a similar role is an asset.
  • Min. 2 years’ experience coordinating minor and major events; preferably with UNICEF or other UN agencies.
  • Experience writing event report.
  • Experience with other UN agencies/international organizations will be considered Experience in implementing digital advocacy campaignsKnowledge of child rights issues, communication and media outreach.
  • Good coordination/project management skills.
Language:
  • Fluency in English, both in oral and written communication, and knowledge of the relevant local language is an asset.
