How can you make a difference?
Background:
The escalation of the war in Ukraine poses an immediate threat to the lives and well-being of the country’s children. Hundreds of thousands of children and their families have been internally displaced and forced to flee the country in search of safety – with the majority being women and children.
In response, UNICEF has mobilized organization-wide support. However, the deteriorating situation and complex operating environment require strengthened capacity and sustained efforts to further expand our presence and work in those parts of the country that can be safely accessed. This includes strengthening our cluster and overall humanitarian leadership, as well as continuing to scale up our humanitarian action, with a priority focus on child protection, health, WASH, education, cash interventions, and social protection efforts.
As emergency response expands, UNICEF Ukraine has an increased need for various multimedia assets, including high-quality photos and videos, human interest stories, social media content, and multimedia documents in both English and Ukrainian. Most of these assets are also produced and provided by implementing partners across Ukraine.
Compelling and high-quality content on the situation of children and UNICEF’s response is an integral part of UNICEF’s advocacy and communication efforts in the emergency, as well as its brand. Therefore, the organization must ensure that its multimedia products on the situation of children and UNICEF’s response are professionally crafted and resonate with targeted audiences. Additionally, the organization must ensure that all multimedia materials shared externally on UNICEF’s local, regional, and global channels adhere to UNICEF’s global style guidelines and requirements for multimedia products, including ethical reporting and child safeguarding.
Purpose of assignment:
To produce high-quality communication and information products regarding the situation of children affected by war and the response provided, UNICEF Ukraine requires the services of a consultant to coordinate and manage content produced by at least 72 implementing partners across the country (the number of IPs continues to grow).
The overall objective of this assignment is to assist and facilitate the office in arranging the work of the communication component from implementing partners, including gathering photographs, videos, texts, and HIS from partners and guiding them in accordance with UNICEF comms guidelines. The consultant will provide support with planning the content production and gathering process to accommodate the needs of various units and sections within the UNICEF Ukraine office. They will be responsible for communicating with each of the 72 implementing partners and managing the full cycle of content production from their side, including identifying relevant cases, developing detailed briefs for specific assignments, providing guidance on the products needed, curating content gathering, and packaging for relevant UNICEF platforms, including photo essays, human interest stories, video stories, and other social media assets as required.
The assignment involves curating multimedia content production in Ukrainian and English. All multimedia assets developed need to follow UNICEF’s global style, editing, and branding guidelines, which will be provided when work is assigned, as well as specific photo and video requirements. The consultant will be working under the supervision of a Communication Officer in close cooperation with Communication and Digital teams.
