About the role
The Alzheimer’s Society Local Services teams provide exceptional information, advice and guidance for people affected by dementia.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Local Services Manager for North Cumbria, you will be home based, leading, and inspiring geographically dispersed teams, whilst working as part of a wider Area Management Team, to deliver these fantastic services.
You will be someone who understands influencing, networking, and collaboration, willing to work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for people with dementia
You will be an operational leader, managing our dementia support services. You will also have a great opportunity to build relationships and engage external stakeholders, including working closely with Local Authorities and Health colleagues and Commissioners within an Integrated Care System setting.
Internally, you will lead your teams with compassion, attention to detail and the passion to make a difference, every day, to people with and affected by dementia. We are embedding our 2022 – 2027 Help and Hope strategy and you will lead and develop your teams in terms of new thinking, new culture and new ways of delivering our amazing services.
About you

As a Local Services Manager you will:
- Be optimistic, engaging, with great attention to detail.
- Be someone who can demonstrate the ability to build and nurture relationships with stakeholders to ensure that the lived experience of people with dementia is shared widely so that it can influence decision making, service quality and delivery, in line with our strategic priorities.
- Have knowledge of key roles in the Health & Social Care sector and is confident in managing relationships within this sector, to ensure we are the go-to organisation for all things dementia related.
- Possess experience as a people manager (as this is a development opportunity this can also include volunteers) having led teams to deliver high performance outcomes and work collaboratively to provide an excellent service.
- Role model our values in all you do, who can work effectively with internal teams to achieve mutual outcomes.
- Have experience of successfully managing change from start to end and will need to be highly organised and able to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Be someone who can work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Have a positive and proactive attitude to challenging situations and problem solving, using a collaborative and engaging approach with your team.
- Be flexible, adaptable and positive when faced with the challenges leading a team of people passionate about improving outcomes for people with dementia.
- Understand the need to build high performing teams, with great team spirit and a collaborative approach.
- Be a passionate and thoughtful person, you will have experience of working from home or in the community, and you will be confident in building relationships and team engagement through virtual solutions and face to face team activity.
- Live within the relevant Integrated Care System boundary for the job and be passionate about making a difference for people affected by dementia.
- Have great interpersonal skills and as operational leader, you will understand the opportunities and challenges of leading service delivery, monitoring data and trends and ensuring quality standards are realised.
- Experience of working in a dementia related role is not essential, however an understanding of the health and care sector, either through work or personal lived experience is beneficial.
- Have the right experience of delivering services, coaching, and developing others, and the right attributes are key.
