The Logistics Associate is responsible for assisting the uninterrupted supply of affordable and good quality supplies, adapted to the context and through compliance with UNICEF’s policies, procedures and ethics standards.
Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:
  • Monitors the status of incoming offshore supplies by use of track and trace systems, PO status monitoring and correspondence with Supply Division.
  • Liaison with counterpart to organize reception of goods. If goods are not going directly to
  • counterpart, the associate will organize safe reception by UNICEF CO.
  • Processes logistics requests from programme and ensures follow-up action completed.
  • Upon receipt of RO, organizes the staging, re-packaging, arranges transportation and ensures receipt of HER supplies by SP/end users.
  • Checks all invoices for logistics services against service requests made from the logistics office.
  • Verifies, summarizes, and submits invoice package to the supply/logistics officer for certification.
  • Submits payment requests for logistics services.
  • Allocates various costs to the requesting programmes.
  • Requests funds from programme budgets to enable payment.
  • Monitors and summarizes all expenditure and provides activity report to the Logistics Officer.
  • Carries out capacity building of SP’s warehouse management systems and processes to align with global standards.
  • Executes additional administration tasks at the request of the logistics officer.
  • Provides goods status reports to concerned programmes and to the logistics unit at national level.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
  • Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to supply chain, business administration, contract/commercial law, or another relevant technical field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management with particular emphasis on logistics, including warehousing, customs clearance, and transportation. For this position, a bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of related work experience. A master’s degree may replace additional two years.
  • Experience of utilizing SAP ERP system would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of development and humanitarian work is an advantage.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
