Job Description:

Courier Management and Training – 40%

  • Supervise UF Health Pathology Laboratories courier staff throughout the state of Florida (Gainesville and Leesburg). 
  • Recruit and train couriers in transportation of medical specimen and customer service.
  • Assure that all courier staff members have completed all assigned training courses due annually.  
  • Time approval and reconciliation.
  • Manage staffing coverage and staffing calendars.
  • Provide tools for couriers and Client Services to use to better direct available drivers to new requests.
  • Following-up from the day prior on any deliveries that were not successfully closed out.
  • Skillful at direct conversations with drivers and peers to provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Arranging repairs and routine maintenance of transportation vehicles.
  • Accident and driving violation management including working with the Self Insurance Program and UF motor pool as well as other insurers.
  • Train staff for safely completing tasks, including specimen handling, safe driving, proper ways to lift loads.
  • Organizing monthly /bi weekly meeting with logistics staff to relay updates and process changes.

Customer Service 15%

  • Customer Service focused. Always making the decision that best serves the client’s needs. 
  • Develop relationships with clients. 
  • Professionally communicating via phone and emails.

Route Management – 40%

  • Develop efficient routes to serve our customers & improve efficiencies of our laboratory. 
  • Prioritize pickup and drop off requests to maintain service levels and efficiency.
  • Directing activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking of specimens to create a system that responds quickly to customer needs and runs efficiently. 
  • Track and maintain supply levels.
  • Develop systems to determine system wide par levels for sample procurement, supplies, and distribution. 
    • Work with lab procurement team to ensure supply chain stability and versatility for collection supplies.
  • Participate in supervisor meetings at the lab to coordinate services, resolve issues, anticipate problems & develop solutions. 
  • Data validation and manipulation in Excel.
  • Utilize dispatch software daily to transform shipment data into routes to ensure all routes are properly assigned.
  • Completion of specialty route requests.
  • Review of daily route assignments and adjusting set assignments if needed.
  • Delegation and reconciliation of all supply orders.

Other Duties as Assigned – 5%

Expected Salary:

Salary is between $45,000 – $55,000, commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree with two years of experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in transportation

Inventory management

Knowledge of Medical/ Laboratory terminology

Knowledge of Anatomic and Clinical pathology specimen stabilities and requirements

Managerial experience

Written and verbal communication

Valid driver’s license
