Role Specification

Role Objective:

The Logistics System Support Specialist provides effective IT assistance to support the implementation and on-going function of the groups company’s logistics systems.

The position involves exposure to a broad range of stakeholders within projects including internal colleagues as well as third parties. It requires a flexible approach with strong problem solving and issue handling skills.

Summary of Role Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Resolving support issues received from the operations teams on all Logistical systems.
  • Identifying and escalating reported issues to the relevant teams, Logistics Systems Support Specialists/IT Logistics Manager/Development Specialists/Third Party Providers where necessary.
  • Maintain documentation covering the support procedures necessary for the smooth running of the Business Systems.
  • Accurately record and maintain issues using the internal helpdesk logging system.
  • Identify shortcomings within support or user process which cause issues.
  • Adhere to support procedures for Logistical Systems.
  • Aid in creating solutions and testing new developments within the groups Logistical systems.

Person Specification

SKILLS/ ABILITIES

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Be able to demonstrate success in problem identification and resolution.
  • Ability to complete tasks while working unsupervised for period of time (working from home, on remote site)
  • Ability to learn new processes and systems quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent written, oral, and reading communication skills in order for the post holder to interpret and transcribe a variety of communications and instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for Windows (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Helpdesk experience preferred.
  • Some basic experience of WMS/WCS systems in wholesale sector with MLS and/or Manhattan systems preferred but not essential as training will be given.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adjust and interact with all levels of personnel.
  • The ability to multitask and be organised.
  • The ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including an Out of hours on call rota.
  • Willing to travelling to other warehouses to support within the UK & Ireland.
