JOB CONTEXT:

The Palestine mission is part of the Mashriq regional programme, which covers Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine. HI implements a mix of humanitarian and development projects in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

In 2023, HI implemented both humanitarian and development projects in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The escalation between Hamas and Israel in October 2023 has created a major humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

In response to the escalating needs, HI has significantly escalated its financial forecast for 2024 and its staff and continues to develop new proposals to support the response to the needs in the field and expand its access capacities.

HI’s current areas of activity encompass physical rehabilitation, humanitarian mine action, humanitarian logistics, education in emergencies, emergency preparedness, disability mainstreaming/inclusion in humanitarian action, and advocacy.

Significant challenges are encountered on a daily basis, notably a severe lack of security and humanitarian access in Gaza, along with a high instability of West Bank and multiple bureaucratic impediments.
