Logistics Officer

Overview:

The IID organization is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Officer to join our team in Erbil or Mosul. The Logistics Officer will be responsible for managing all logistical operations, including procurement, transportation, and warehousing for IID projects. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role requires overseeing the logistics team, managing drivers, and ensuring efficient and compliant logistical support for all field activities. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our projects are executed smoothly and effectively, contributing to the overall mission and success of IID.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Procurement Management:

    • Develop and implement procurement plans in line with project requirements and organizational policies.
    • Source and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
    • Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Implement the Project PRs advertising all the tenders, preparing all the requirements for the Purchasing Committee, and collecting all the supply documents.
    • Prepare Purchase Orders (PO) and Goods Received Notes (GRN) in accordance with organizational procedures.
  2. Logistics Coordination:

    • Plan and coordinate logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
    • Monitor and track the movement of goods and materials to ensure timely delivery and proper handling.
    • Ensure efficient and cost-effective logistics solutions that meet project needs.
  3. Team Management:

    • Supervise and manage the logistics team, including drivers and field staff.
    • Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure team performance and development.
    • Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of drivers to meet project logistics requirements.
  4. Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare regular reports on logistics activities, including procurement status, inventory levels, and transportation metrics.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of all logistics transactions and maintain organized records for auditing and reporting purposes.
  5. Compliance and Safety:

    • Ensure all logistics operations comply with organizational policies, donor regulations, and local laws.
    • Implement safety protocols and procedures to protect staff and assets during logistics activities.
  6. Coordination with Stakeholders:

    • Liaise with project managers, field staff, and external partners to coordinate logistics support for project activities.
    • Address any logistics-related issues or challenges and provide timely solutions.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in logistics management, preferably within an NGO or international development context.
  • Proven experience in procurement processes, including supplier evaluation and contract negotiation.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in supervising and training staff.
  • Proficient in using logistics management software and MS Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is required; knowledge of Kurdish is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with the local context in Erbil or Mosul and experience working in conflict-affected areas is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing situations and priorities.
