Role Definition

As a Logistics Process Planning Engineer, you will be part of the Logistics Planning team within the Supply Chain group at Caterpillar focusing on new product introduction.

A Logistics Process Planning Engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of all related logistics processes, introducing new technology & equipment along with associated Logistics activities for Caterpillar BCP NPI Logistics Planning projects.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Part presentation for assembly consisting of kitting or sequencing.

Layout design and process flows.

Machinery & equipment procurement for kitting solutions and material handling.

Resource planning.

Support resolution of quality issues using 6 Sigma tools, including collaboration with other departments

Use lean methodology and processes to improve material flow throughout the facility, reducing waste

Adhere to the company’s Health and Safety policy and safe working practices and Caterpillar’s Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork, & Sustainability

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

As with all our Engineers, you will have strong skills across data analysis, tech know-how, project management as your base foundation, along with relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience.

A natural innovator with a curious mind, looking to improve processes and efficiencies in all that you do and an analytical and problem-solving mindset.

Comfortable working autonomously, managing your own workload and responsible for meeting your goals and challenges.

You will have specific experience in process planning, cost, and project management.

Comfortable using MS Office Applications and preferably 2D AutoCAD.

Happy to collaborate and communicate daily with peers and other departments at all levels and cross-functionally, able to present your ideas clearly and negotiate in a balanced but effective manner.

Top Candidates will also have:

3D modelling knowledge using Creo or similar.

Use of simulation tools and software e.g., FlexSim

SFMEA & PFMEA application

Knowledge of latest industry technological trends and advances

Prince 2 project planning or similar

Job Title: Logistics Process Planning Engineer

Salary: £38,500 – £46,000 depending on experience

Contract: Permanent
